Joshua joined Hunter Research as a Field Assistant in 2003 and currently holds the position of Principal Investigator and Laboratory Manager. He now has over 20 years of experience in cultural resource management in the Middle Atlantic region, having participated in hundreds of cultural resource surveys, mitigations and monitoring projects for a host of clients. Joshua also has over a decade of experience in fieldwork direction, managing laboratory activities and report writing.  He has eagerly participated in several on-site or in-class exhibit development and public outreach opportunities that present the opportunity to speak out on the importance of preserving our past. Joshua is a graduate of Drew University in Madison, NJ (B.A., Anthropology and Honors Classics, 2003) and Rutgers University in Camden, NJ (M.A., Public History, 2012).

Joshua has recently served as Principal Investigator and Archaeological Monitor for several construction and site improvement projects for the National Park Service at Ellis and Liberty Islands in New York Harbor. Archaeological monitoring duties have taken him to many other notable sites across New Jersey in recent years including Minish Park in Newark, the South Amboy Intermodal Ferry Terminal in South Amboy, the Morven Museum and Garden in Princeton and the Lake Lenape Dam in Mays Landing. He has also recently directed field investigations at Boxwood Hall in Elizabeth, the Johnson Ferry House in Washington Crossing State Park and the Moravian Church at Oldman’s Creek in Woolwich.

Joshua also serves as Company Safety Officer and holds OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour and 8-hour Supervisor certifications.  He is a member of the Register of Professional Archaeologists (RPA) and serves as a Member-At-Large on the executive board of the Archaeological Society of New Jersey. Joshua meets the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualifications Standards (36 CFR 61) in Archaeology.
